🐸 r1b.it

Welcome to r1b.it 🐸, my little corner of the Fediverse.

r1b.it (pronounced “ribbit”) is built around a close-knit, personable community. My goal is to foster a culture based on genuine human interaction, slow conversations, and real connections.

I run my instance with a commitment to four core pillars:

🧑‍🌾 Equal Voice & Shared Stewardship
First and foremost, every user has just as much say in how r1b.it is operated as anyone else – including myself. Because the community is kept intentionally small, decisions about rules, federation, and site features are able to be discussed together as a collective. While it may be my personal instance, it is run as a service to you.
🌱 Human-Focused, Not Ultra Technical
While many Lemmy instances lean heavily toward tech news or soft-hosting jargon, r1b.it is a space for anything and everything. You build the culture. Whether you want to share a recipe, post art, chat about hobbies, or just share how your day went, you belong here.
🍄 Anonymity vs. Personability
Even though I value being personable, warm, and authentic, your privacy comes first. You are fully encouraged to remain as anonymous as you feel comfortable. Pseudonyms are encouraged! You don’t need to share your real name or personal details to be a trusted, familiar face in our pond.
🪷 Freedom to Hear and Be Heard
All r1b.it users have a right to express themselves in the way that is most fulfilling to them – so long as they are being genuine. Content that would turn users away or infringes on that right (such as hate speech, bullying, pornography, and the like) will be removed. If a user consistently misbehaves and the community deems it necessary, they will be removed from the instance.

If you decide to hop in, be sure to introduce yourself in !croak@r1b.it. Whether you want some new friends or just a shorter domain name, I’d love to get to know you! Feel free to ping me whenever ;)

❗Note! I am the sole moderator and am currently based in Hawaii (UTC-10). I have a fairly normal sleep schedule, so keep that in mind when it comes to considering response times.
