Not entirely lib-free but an interesting read nonetheless. As someone in a country with state-run higher education, I cannot imagine grading and passing students only based on take-home exams or written tasks? Every single course I’ve ever taken has an on-site written or oral exam, in many cases both. Obviously I have only my own institution as sample size and I might be a bit sheltered studying math, regardless, it seems really bad in countries where they went full free market.

I would wildly question the integrity of my institution, even before AI, if it passed students based on take-home assignments. Not that such assignments shouldn’t exist, but only for training and feedback not to be included in the grade. Absolute insanity.

This article paints a very concerning picture of higher education in the west, combine it with the detrimental PISA results from earlier this year and the coming generations students enrolling into this structure will really break the whole system.

Have any of you experienced this first-hand?
