I’d rather my art die out completely than have it be part of meta AI. I deleted my art pages on fb and instagram.

Here’s to hoping the fediverse can keep me afloat.

Isn’t it heartbreaking what mass art theft on the internet has done to artists? I was recently thinking “maybe I should try posting art online again” and then I remembered why I deleted it all in the first place: AI.

Its really tough. I just cut off my avenue for 60% of my commissions and information for my local events.

As long as your art is available online somewhere, the AI scrapers are probably going to find it and eat it. But congrats on making it slightly more difficult for them.

Sorry you got downvoted for this. You’re not wrong.

Facebook had a hold on me way longer than it should have because I don’t know any other way to connect with people I know IRL locally, particularly for local events and arts & crafts fairs. I finally cut the ties but I genuinely don’t know how to replace that pipeline for commissions and local events.

local sub-reddits are typically toxic as all get out and then you’re just trading Facebook for Reddit. It truly is a gap… the problem is that for any service to step in requires they provide infrastructure / maintenance and that’s expensive. Sometimes a local online newspaper will have a community events listing, but they don’t typically allow discussion.
