It’s a replacement for many parts of the Adobe suite. Canva bought it a while back and then made it free but added a bunch of AI stuff. It’s good, much better than gimp, but not as good as most adobe stuff. I still want affinity to have a Lightroom replacement and then I can drop adobe forever.

Check out darktable, very good lightroom replacement after the initial learning curve and figuring out photo importing

I actually started with darktable , before ever using Lightroom. I didn’t like it. I’ve heard it’s gotten much better but the catalog is the killer feature and as far as I know you can’t move it over.

No you’d have to make light room write everything to each image xmp file then make dark table import that but the edits don’t match perfectly. Its definitely work to move over. After switching to Linux it took me like a year to fully invest my time into it after getting annoyed enough of dual booting and now I really enjoy it almost 4 years going as a hobbyist mainly for family/travel photos and macro photography.

I also used digikam for a bit, I’d have my library in digikam and edit in darktable but ended up just preferring dark table. Digikam also manages video like light room which was nice but I almost never do video anyways

Does darkroom support Fuji compressed raw?

I had issues with that before, but it’s also possible I’m mistaking it for dark table.

I think canva was in need of desktop program and rather than developing one from scratch, they straight up buy affinity and slap their main selling point of the web version of canva (AI art)
