Best month to be an employee ever
If you’re salaried, I guess?
Worst month to pay bills
Are you sure? A lost week would mean a lost pay period so payroll wouldn’t cut a check, even salaried.
And the funny part is that this shift happened at different dates in different countries so if you happened to be traveling it would have been extra fucky
In 1582, you wouldn’t be traveling fast enough unless you were right on the border. And only if the armed border guards decided to let you through.
Nah it took like 350 years for everyone to switch
Russia did it in 1918, but there were a bunch of other countries between 1582 and then.
The funniest (to me) is Alaska which switched in 1867 when Russia sold it to the US.
The more logic challenges I see, the more I think that implementing a Date library in a language is the most challenging thing ever.
Tom Scott made a funny video about that
I’ve seen a short list before of a few things programmers really shouldn’t try to implement themselves, and I forget what the other 2-3 were, but times and dates was definitely one of them. It’s so incredibly nuanced, I’m impressed anyone gets it right.
Cryptography, and HTML parsing using regex come to mind.
“Okay, time to really stop drinking!!”
Comcast: Your bill payment was due on October 8th, and is now past due
Me: That’s funny, because I think you should suck my balls
This is canon
