Not recent, but I spent the majority of my teenage years dealing with awfully frizzy and unmanageable hair because I was shampooing daily (also using an excessive amount).
I was under the impression that you need to thoroughly shampoo all oils away every time you shower in order to be “clean.” When I moved to university and no longer had parents around to tell me that I stink, my hygiene standards became more… relaxed, but I was surprised that my hair was a lot healthier!
Same issue here. Turns out when you strip all the oil off your skin/scalp, your body puts a lot of work into re-oiling it up. Now I’ve got to a point where I only need to wash my hair a couple times per week. It took a while to get there, with some days when I would have greasy-looking hair, but the longer you can push back the next wash, the better.
