Where did you learn this? I’ve never heard this recommendation before and it sounds pretty out there.

Edit: it turns out that apparently both the American Dental Association and the National Health Service of the UK recommend not rinsing immediately after brushing. Huh, TIL.

I heard it straight from my Dentist (in Canada) just this last month. I was also blown away, been rinsing for decades…

I’m not them, but I first heard this in one of the early episodes of A Problem Squared podcast. Edutainment, baby!

The flouride in toothpaste doesn’t work if you rinse it off immediately. You should not eat or drink for at least 30 minutes after brushing.

Get a mouthwash with floride in it. Floss to get everything out, rinse, brush to clean everything, rinse, take a drink of water cause you won’t have any for a bit, mouthwash to polish everything up, don’t eat or drink for as long as possible (like right before bed so it stays clean)

It makes sense if you think about it. The flouride needs to rest on your teeth to harden them properly.
