House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries joins Morning Joe to talk about what comes next after Democrats won control of both chambers of Congress in the midterms. Jeffries calls the result a “stunning rebuke” of Trump and GOP policies, adding that Democrats now have to deliver on affordability—from groceries and gas to health care—while pursuing accountability by following the facts and the law.
Preach!!! Get things done and ignore the attention whores. Trump is a lame duck and will flail and cause more damage to his party. Ignore him and make him Veto or Republicans actually filibuster anything and everything that will help regular people.
Almost everything he has done in the last two years has been without congressional approval. This election has changed nothing about his ability to do all that stuff. The duck is both not lame and very rabid.
Yeah he’s rabid and everyone hates him. Regular voters are turning on him and soon it will be Republicans when it costs them their jobs. Stop the most harmful things that have congressional control like War Powers resolution but focus on things that can help others. Let Trump squander his political capital and let the MAGA movement fail.
You don’t want to stop your opponent from committing blunders.
“His blunders” are things like killing US citizens and attacking Latino communities. How do you think they’re going to vote in '28 if the Democrats say “let’s let him keep it up, it’s a bad look”?
A lot of people came out to vote so that Democrats would protect them from harm, and that involves consequences for bad actors, because otherwise they can just ignore whatever laws they want and keep doing it.
I don’t think impeaching and removing heads of various agencies is going to do much. They will just get replaced with a carbon copy. Completely defunding ICE will actually help. That’s what they should do. Pass bills or at least try to that will help people. Do some investigation but don’t let that take up all the oxygen or attention. Build a contrast
