Overlord is one of my favorites. The Cautious Hero is overly Cautious is also good.
Second for Overlord, the whole show is just ridiculous power fantasy. It’s great, I love it dearly.
There’s some occasional egregious fanservice but it’s typically brief enough that I could deal. Rest of the show is killer.
Cautious Hero
I considered mentioning this anime but it’s too much of a parody to be a power fantasy for me.
But yes, it’s good!
Didn’t I say to make my abilities average
Mile is reincarnated to another world and asks god to be average.
She is given the median power of the weakest and strongest of the world. (As the strongest is so powerful she is 1000 times stronger than any other human)
Mile a girl who has no knowledge of the world and no common scense starts her new hunter (adventurer) life, talking to Nano machines, meeting new friends and failing miserable to be ‘normal’.
TsukiMichi - moonlit fantasy
Makoto is abducted from his world by a goddess due to a pack she had with his parents.
He is rejected for not being handsome enough and another god feels sorry for him and grants him powers.
He’s dumped at the edge of the world by the goddess where he starts his adventure, meeting powerful companions and building his own little world.
Eminence in shadow
Every school kids fantasy that they are special and unique with some hidden powers.
Except it is true? After reincarnating Cid is making up stories about an evil organisation and making up his own fantasies, to those around him they turn out to be true but to him he is just making it up and everyone else is just playing along or he misses what’s happening completely.
Oh, I love Eminence in Shadow! I really appreciate that the main character spends just as much time and energy (at least on-screen) being outwardly ordinary as he does being secretly strong. Having a certified weirdo as the main character always elevates a story.
Shangri-La is enjoyable “numberslop” as Geoff Thiew, professional shitbag (his words, not mine) would put it.
SLF is the closest someone has ever come to describing GunZ the Duel in an anime. The fighting game they are originally from where they pull out bullshit glitches to win is exactly like the experience of playing gunz.
I think you mean Shangri-La Frontier? If so there’s an anime actually called Shangri-La which had me scratching my head trying to make heads or tails of it so you might want to clarify.
Hell Mode feels like a light-hearted version of Mushoku Tensei without all of the trauma.
Chivalry of a Failed Knight really surprised me with how good it was (despite having some flaws)
Solo Leveling fits the bill, I’d say. I’m not sure what else you’d call the main character’s story arc.
Most trash tier isekai (affectionate). Did you have any examples of ones you particularly liked?
Mob Psycho
One-Punch Man
Lycoris Recoil
Frieren especially her fight against Aura
I haven’t seen Lycoris Recoil, but I’m not sure I’d call the other three power fantasies. Sure these main characters are OP, but they all have goals or wishes that remain out-of-reach for them despite that. Mob’s goal isn’t to smash other dudes with his power. He just wants to be able to run better than an old lady and confess to the girl he loves. Likewise, One-Punch Man avoids it because the main character’s dream is to have an engaging fight and his overwhelming strength doesn’t help him with that at all. Frieren can kill demons all day but it won’t bring her dead friend back to life.
“OP character who wants to live a quiet life” is one of my power fantasies XD.
Villainess Level 99. The comedy slaps 😆
