“In the US, nearly 50 per cent of men aged 18–49 use online sports betting. Legalisation of sports betting has led to a tenfold surge in sportsbook spending and elevated credit delinquency among young and disadvantaged men.”

    50%?! That’s insane.

“Men account for 90 per cent of the world’s 11.5 million prisoners, suffering elevated rates of mental health disorders and chronic illness. In high-income countries, nine per cent of male prisoners attempt suicide, with post-release mortality spiking due to overdose, suicide, and cardiovascular events”

It is weird how many younger progressive people are smokers in my area.

looks around at climate predictions and economic & political landscape

      Is it weird, really?

It’s hardly new that politics is fucked, the climate is fucked and that the economy is stacked against youth. Nor is it new that teens get high a lot. Same as it ever was.

I meant 20s-30s. My main issue with this is I cant stand. The smell making it difficult to be around them.

It does, actually. Most smokers find it relaxing. Not to the extent that other, more “noticeable” drugs would, like smoking cannabis, but it does have a physiological effect of lowering anxiety.

Long term that’s probably true. Depending on any chemical for anxiety relief isn’t going to be doing the root cause of that anxiety any favors.

But at the particular moment that you’re out having a smoke, no, it’s great.

Suicide is illegal, and tough to pull off. So I just have nice fatty steaks and wait for my liver to kill me. 🤷🏻‍♂️

If this is primarily affecting conservatives, then this sounds excellent. My only concern is helping the normal people to avoid these harmful scenarios.
