That could be an episode title from Babylon 5. But it’s happening here. She was one of many cats I helped trap with Katie before Katie died. There were 19 cats in that colony we TNRed. But five were kittens that had the chance of being tamed and adopted.

Ivonava refused to be tamed. She was extra when I caught her and she is extra now.

She has been captive too long to go back to her colony. She can’t be adopted because people don’t adopt the car that hisses at them. There aren’t many places for cats like this. They aren’t foster fails. They are domestication fails.

Thanks to food and flea meds being provided by [redacted non-profit], and the donations they get, she will have a home. She will be released in our house. Eventually she will find out there is a cat door to the rest of the world. She will go through that door. We don’t know if she will come back in for shelter against the rain or the guaranteed food bowl. Most cats in her situation do. But not all of them. Sometimes after a year these cats decide not only are they happy for sanctuary but legit welcome a cuddle. Sometimes they pop back in every few days until they eventually decide that they don’t want to come back. But regardless they will live life on their terms of their own free will.
