Almost every day for the last ten years, I’ve woken up sad about living in Texas. It’s a feeling that’s pervasive and oppressive, when your home is just wrong.

The best I’d ever hoped for is that one day Texas might get one thing right in the middle of all its bad decisions, but that’s not what happened. Texas is fucking blue. So I’m having a great week.

I’m just happy people can stop telling me “we have to wait till after the election before we can do anything”.

They’re still not going to do anything, but now they gotta find a new excuse.

They’re the two-percenters. I.e. registered Republicans who are also members of DSA.

What the fuck is OP talking about? I’m against implementing bans on trans people in sports because I’m not a weird fascist who loves hurting people just trying to enjoy a game. Am I supposed to be gleaming that OP is on my side? Because they come off exactly like every conservative in my life. You too.

Because you DIDN’T say you disagree or think they shouldn’t of passed and that’s on people to do. I don’t know who you are and why you’re trying to frame trans rights issues as losing issues and could be doing it to harm us. Stop being vague. I and many others are rightfully assuming the worst of people. It’s for self protection.

Oh that’s very clear, you’re even attacking fellow trans-people over it! I am observing that things are not getting better even with a “blue wave,” and instead of asking for clarification you are aggressive and vitriolic. If you’re still struggling to understand what I am saying, it’s NOT GOOD that these ANTI-TRANS bills PASSED.

Stop being vague, explain yourself and people won’t assume. Your post came off like democratic right wing trolling to me because you didn’t explain yourself. With how many people have taken this opportunity to push more harm on us, stop calling me aggressive for being skeptical. Fucking jerk

You say enough said but your post is vague af. I assume the worst because you didn’t even bother to explain yourself.

All the anti-trans bills passed and the Billionaire tax failed. Despite a “blue wave,” voters didn’t support the progressive policies. That indicates this wasn’t so much people agreeing with the more progressive candidates so much as them simply wanting non-Republican control, likely reacting to increases in gas and food prices.

With the way they’re acting, you’d think that these dudes wanted Republicans to maintain control. Like, I don’t have a lot of faith in democrats to actually get the shit done that they need to, but the defeatism is absolutely absurd.

As a Canadian, I’m seeing too many people thinking everything can now immediately go back to “normal”. None of the actual work has started yet.

Yes, absolutely celebrate this, but if you act like things are “over” you need a reality check. Americans voted against Trump in 2020, and then elected him again after seeing what he did the first time.

So yes, this is absolutely a great first step, but it needs to be followed with criminals being held accountable and Americans not voting the other way again in 2 or 4 years. Considering Democratic leaders are already talking about not holding criminals accountable it seems prudent to splash some water on people acting like this is over and they can stop pushing.
