The way your bones work is when a cell dies there will be the garbage crew who comes and cleanes the previous cell’s remains, they clean it all up and leave a nice place for a new cell who takes up the place, gets cozy, and secretes a new bone, burying itself, only connected to other bone-cells through long cytoplasmic connections. And it stays there, buried, until it ages and loses the connections, it dies because it cant feed anymore.
Then they clean it up again, so a new cell can bury itself.
