Hello everyone. I want to introduce Omicron to Lemmy community. Omicron is modern federated blogging platform that created by modern developers with urgo for decentralized web. You can just try it, create an account or host your own instance! Here are some links fo you: Main instance: https://omicron.blog/ Project website: https://join.omicron.blog/ Full documentation: https://docs.omicron.blog/ Source code: https://github.com/the-jk-labs/omicron
i am interested in your thoughts! you can contact me at subhan@omicron.blog
Ahh, finally a fediverse blogging platform with focus on ui/ux/dx
I’m looking to use LESS AI coded slop, not more.
AI is a lying machine made out of theft.
200k lines of code in a month by four contributors of which one is dependabot. There is an AGENTS.md in the repo and the gitignore contains entries for claude and agents. At least clearly disclose that you are pushing vibed slop.
5 months of work of 5 people actually. we have QA engineers and pentesters, they are not listed in contributors. If you don’t like something, you can just help make this nice

“foaming extreme leftists” - you misspelled “actual Christ’s soldiers” there
Sold!
xox, A crazy luddite/foaming extreme leftist
I’m baffled. Is this sort of like kuro5hin back in the day? The front page looks like that, a bunch of random interspersed posts from different people. Is it blog hosting like wordpress.com where each person has their own blog, except propagated between federated instances? Why would a blogger want to use it instead of a self-hosted blog like Alan Turing (or whoever) intended? If you think your blog might get any traction at all, it seems to me important to own its domain name from the beginning.
It might be cool to have a blogging feature added to Lemmy, sort of like Kuro5hin diaries back in the day. They were like mini-blogs that users could write, alongside the regular slashdot-like news section.
Omicron is easy-to-to use platform for bloggers. Ofc, you can selfhost your blog. Bu we make it modern, advanced, easy and on Fediverse. Bloggers are not developers, they deserve better user experience and freedom at the same time!
A year ago or so I was thinking something like this should be made, then immediately procrastinated on the idea.
Thanks for creating it. This will be my weekend project to port everything over.
If it’s really AI slop (and it looks like it) I wouldn’t do it. Not because AI is generally bad but vibed projects are bad. They are bad because they are often not really maintained. The people behind it can’t fix the bugs cause they don’t understand what the AI was doing and the AI can’t do it neither. So these vibed project usually don’t get bug or security fixes. And I don’t have to tell you how bad that is, do I?
I haven’t checked the source yet. Just the concept is what I was looking for. I’ll do my due diligence before deploying anything.
we are working on this for 5 months and we have QA engineers. If you see anything wrong just report us, let’s make it nice!
How can I open an omicron post in mastodon? Pasting the post link (e.g. https://omicron.blog/@lockitvault/designing-a-vault-whose-front-door-is-a-working-calculator ) into the search doesn’t work.
Hi, Omicron is only federated with article-type posts. But yes, you can do this like: https://fosstodon.org/@subhangadirli@omicron.blog/117154469309929356
They are aviable!
I can’t open that post since I’m not on Fosstodon, it redirects to the OP when not logged in. How did you get the post to Fosstodon?
Could be because nobody on your instance is following any omicron.blog users. As I understand federation, there needs to be an existing connection for your instance to look up the other site in searches?
I could be wrong, but new/small instances are often omitted in searches.
No, directly searching for a post’s link should produce the post, no matter if it’s account is already followed. It looks like I used a wrong link or it’s not properly implemented.
