5·2 days agoNice! Just updated, it’s pretty neat :D
It looks like the system auth Polkit prompt now pops up to unlock the password database (and presumably you could set that up something like fingerprint!)

Linux@programming.dev•Giving linux a try, should i try gamedev next?English
1·4 days agoGame jams are awesome! Even if the game is awful (most of mine are, at least), you still learn a lot about managing a project and getting something from start to finish. Godot is your best bet, it has been used in lots of great indie games (off the top of my head, Brotato used Godot I think), and GDScript (Python with optional explicit types basically) is far easier to approach compared to C# (Unity) or C++ (Unreal)
If you already know how to make nice art/sounds, great! If you don’t, like when I first started, that’s also fine! There are lots of good free assets (see OpenGameArt, Kenney, bfxr, Jummbox, etc.), and pixel art is also fun to learn. I use Aseprite, but any software will do.
I hope Linux is going well for you! Remember that you can easily hop between distros by copying the home directory to a new install.

Linux@programming.dev•Framework Laptop 12 (2026) Review: The Linux MacBook Neo alternative?English
1·8 days agoIf it weren’t for the price of memory (and everything else), the FW12 would be an easy buy for me. It is equal to or surpasses my current 13th gen Intel laptop in every way aside from the display (an amazing OLED to a reddish LCD is not great), and I really want one of their fun colours, especially the purple one!
Maybe in the future I can get one for cheap in the used market? Framework’s “neutral” stance (that is, their unwillingness to criticise DHH and Omarchy. Not nearly as bad as Dell and others, who more blatantly support such nasty politics, but still) bothers me, so buying used also means my money won’t go directly to them.

That makes sense! Most other laptops become junk when the keyboard eventually gums up or when the screen breaks, but if it’s repairable you can easily fix it :D
