You can kind of get around that. Executions by firing squad in some places have blanks in some of the rifles that are than handed out randomly, so every shooter can plausibly deny that they killed anyone.

Japan does a similar things with their hanging. 3 people press 3 switches but only one of them triggers the trapdoor.

Well all get attempted murder because they were willing to kill even if it wasn’t their button.

Well, murder is unlawful killing, this is lawful killing, so no murder charges in the first place.

But the post here is just talking about “killing” anyway. Not sure what’s the bible’s position is on Schrödinger’s killings.

But lawfulness does not depend on your opinion (unless you are part of the supreme court or equivalent). It depends on the law. You can call it immoral but it’s lawful by definition.

But it isn’t. It’s illegal in 23 states. Legal in some and illegal in others and the listing is growing. Sentiment against state sponsored revenge killing is also growing.

That’s the US and I’m sure there is some clusterfuck between state law and federal law in a lot of places. But hence “It depends on the law”. In general, if the death penality is legal and it’s carried out according to the law, it’s a lawful killing.

Personally I’m very much against the death penalty and I’m glad we don’t have it here.

If the requirements is to have three different people press three buttons, and one out of the three doesn’t agree to participate, they can’t follow the process and nothing happens.

I don’t think it’s a requirement to have all 3 buttons pressed. It’s not a fail-safe, the purpose is to obscure who is responsible. So I assume two of the buttons are duds and one is live. And they probably randomly rewire them before every execution.

      Their god’s like:

      snaps fingers

“Damn! They found the loophole! I, an omniscient god, cannot possibly know which of these guys killed that other guy!”

      Gods hate this one trick!

Yeah an omniscient god would totally be able to tell who did it. But for some reason he doesn’t do the killing himself but commands us to do it instead … while not even sharing his intel. Quite the odd fellow.
