It turns out you can’t post Malfoids and Anakin when diesel is $6 a gallon and expect America to vote for you.

Many right-wing personalities went into Tuesday somehow expecting to win despite a disastrous war, a disastrous economy, disastrous polls, and a doddering president whose closing argument seemed to be more about his ballrooms, golf courses, and the Reflecting Pool than anything else.

Since Trump was re-elected, these same people have called everyone else out of touch, convinced by their X algorithm and prediction markets that no blue wave would materialize. The media has similarly spent many thousands of words suggesting that Bluesky is an out-of-touch leftist echo chamber while mostly failing to suggest anything of the sort about the AI-pilled Silicon Valley executives, bots, and racists shitposting on X.

Tuesday’s election wipeout highlights how detached from reality the Malfoid/Anakin-shipping, X-brained billionaires and their acolytes have actually become.

The Malfoid/Anakin stuff is incredibly weak. It isn’t even basing their entire political identity on a joke subversion fan theory - it’s just the right shitposting trolling itself and liking it.

In the end, Anakin is a comically evil character who happens to suffer from being evil, but he’s still evil. He kills those younglings. Malfoid is especially funny for right-wingers to embrace because it’s effectively a trans fantasy situation that puts them as a sub in a D/s relationship.

Overall, the memes seem to be right-wing edgelords asking, “Well, yes, we’re the baddies, but what if we enjoyed it!?” And the answer is…you still suck?

I’m not surprised that Musk doesn’t get or need any level of irony deeper than “look at my cool AI generated picture of Anakin,” but I’m glad it turns out that it doesn’t seem to have legs with any redeemable online communities.

Once Malfoy realizes it’s okay to live as herself, she has an entire change of personality and is rehoused into Hufflepuff, and it turns out she’s actually very sweet and caring when her true self shines through! She was just carrying all that pain for so long from trying to live up to her parents’ expectations.

In Nevada, Halo composer Martin O’Donnell ran as a Republican for a House seat and lost to incumbent Susie Lee. O’Donnell announced his campaign on Discord and leaned hard into an extremely online gamer identity. “He’s like, ‘I wrote the Halo music and I’m voting for Trump and you should too.’ He did a Halo LAN party campaign fundraiser. The imagery was him as Master Chief,” Mercante said. “This dude is like: ‘My personality is gamers, gamers are not woke and they’re resisting this […] and Trump is the person that is going to help us resist,’ and he’s polling like absolute dog water.”

This was incredibly disappointing to learn, that an iconic composer from your childhood, whose OSTs you used to own, is a fucking loser.

If it makes you feel better, the guy who composed stuff for Dragon Ball Z ran as a Democrat and won. He’s gonna be the Texas Attorney General now.

Halo2mappack on twitter also posted screenshots of his discord in the past. It had nazis and the like in it. Something about “giving Marty a headache” being against the rules too. Wish I could find all of those again but twitter is just awful to use.

I always look sideways at people who have stormtrooper merch. Why is the side of the story that is explicitly eugenicist, imperialist, and fascist appealing to you?

Disney’s greatest mistake was allowing black stormtroopers. I love Finn but the whole point of storm troopers are to be fascist, eugenist, white human supremacists. Disney going equal opportunity on evil undercut the message.

Although making Jar Jar a pick me made perfect sense.

Now increasing the diversity in the rebel alliance made a lot more sense.

      Tl;Dr: Lando yes. Finn no.

Edit: you know conservatives are on the wrong side of history when they think the death eaters are the good guys.

Edit 2: Would Phasma actually exist under Maga?.. Kristy Noem and Pam Bondi existed so I guess that’s a yes.

Finn was First Order. They were like Trump’s second term when he won over many African-American and Hispanic voters.

          God that’s true and sad.

Edit: I can see Finn being a black Trump voter and Poe being a Gaza bro. But Rey? You’re asking too much of white women here.

The mistake the conservatives made two years ago was thinking that they’d won anything or won over anybody. They hadn’t. And i think this article gets right that their echo chamber reinforced that idea they had won everything.

The thing was that the democrats lost. By being lethargic, by talking about all the things wrong but doing absolutely nothing when they had power. They supported a fuckng genocide as it started. And they will lose again in two years if they dont give their voters a reason.

The fact that overt fascism praise is being normalized should be disturbing to everyone.

We’ve gone from Nazis, Hilter and Fascists are evil and should not be tolerated at all … to …

let’s fantasize about praising an imaginary fictional fascist authoritarian family that wins over the galaxy and rules as a dynastic family over every living being.

The conversation is constantly moving from the right, to moderate right to far right to extreme right and back again on a regular basis … the fact that we even allow this level of conversation to happen should be worrying to everyone everywhere.
