What the fuck does that mean?? Presumably “From” is the name of the show. “Netflix Effects” makes no sense as a verb phrase???

‘Effect’ can be a verb in English, but it doesn’t work in this context.

Blame Hollywood Reporter. It’s their shit title.

It’s a good show called From that was only available on MGM. I think. We watched it a couple of times on free 7-Day trials. I assume the article is saying that now it’s on Netflix and it’s popular.

It’s when a show with cult popularity gets added to Netflix and gains more mainstream traction, boosting its way up the charts long after it originally released. So “Netflix Effect” is the phenomenon, and they added an S to make it into a verb

Yes. I know. The s doesn’t make it a verb. For example “These shows Netflix Effect their way to…”

Ah, I guess I was confused how that statement was related. The title looked like a pretty clear case of verbing to me

From is very much a JJ Abrams production. The entire show is just one big “mystery box” where no questions ever get answered until the very last couple episodes of a season, and even then literally none of the answers anyone ever gets are actually useful or answer any of the actually important questions.

It’s not, but it is made by one of the people who made LOST, and of course Harold Perrineau was also in LOST.

The story goes that Perrineau refused to participate until he was told the ending, so he could verify the show wouldn’t suck or disappoint viewers, since LOST seemed to him to have been started without an ending in mind, so they pulled one out of their asses. So he was told the ending and he agreed. But who knows how true that is — could just be some copium someone said.

I like the show, but I feel like no explanation for how ‘Fromville’ (what some fans call the town) works will satisfy all the questions we have about it. Also, the show set up some pretty clear rules in the beginning which were quickly tossed, like the divide between “Town” and “Colony House,” the ritual of choosing, the punishment box, and a couple other things, which points to them having no clue what they’re doing with the show. But, it’s entertaining. I like it slightly more than Silo, which is another mystery-box show (though, I’ve read the books and I know how they end).

I just don’t like how each new season since the third has been advertised as the final thing, only to then leave even more questions unanswered than they had at the beginning of the season.

Edit: and I’m pretty sure JJ is at least a producer on the show. How much input he actually has is anyone’s guess, but it definitely has his vibe.
