Apparently, if you avoid doing a thing for a brief period of time, it is a demonstration of self-control and virtue. Thus, you are a better person and can nut, drink and eat uncontrollably for the entire rest of the year. I don’t personally believe in such practices. Do anything whenever you feel like it, but in moderation.
While self control, doing difficult things, and fasting are good things to do, this is a very different situation.
