Quite commonly, boys are not taught how to cook by default, so it’s either their interest and passion (and then they can get to great heights in it), or they leave parents’ house with near-zero cooking knowledge.
Most girls, however, are still expected to drag most homely duties on themselves, including cooking, so they are forced to learn it. Those of them who don’t really like it don’t make it much further, and those who do may still face discrimination, because professional cooking is still male-dominated from the times nearly all jobs were male-dominated.
I don’t get it, most chefs are male.

Fields can be dominated by people who are not the best at it - just look at most CEO’s.
