3 days agoThis is a toehold, setting up and testing out the infrastructure. Some states and countries have been doing similar verification schemes with “adult” sites, which has been pretty widely unpopular. The goal here is just continuing to search for acceptable targets for this age verification bullshit.
China’s AI regulations, to my understanding, are an outright ban on “companion” features, rather than age-restricting them, which is much more sensible and justifiable.
Any further expansion of online age verification is bad, even when it targets annoying assholes nobody likes this time.
Does an internet real-name system not present all these same problems?
