Unpopular opinion: first time I saw the Pokemon anime, I immediately thought about dogs fights: dogs love you even if you mistreat them, and have them fight each other for no reason falls definitely into that.

When they’re wounded, you’ll take them to a Pokemon hospital vet. Everyone knows what happens. No question needed. The vet/cute little doctor will pretend to have sympathy but never scolds the trainer to have put the dog/Pokemon in that situation in the first place.

I never figured how Pokemon trainers can send them to battles and then be horrified if they get hurt. Like the fuck you think would happen eventually??

Pokemon trainers are like those fighting dogs trainers, with nice excuses and a rosy narrative.

I saw some brothers play fighting who were obviously in some sort of martial arts and it was pretty brutal. It started with the older brother trying to stick some thing on the little brother then quickly escalated to flurries of kicks

Did we all just forget about the daycare fight clubs that were happening all across America a few years ago?

You can absolutely throw toddlers like Pokémon if you try hard enough.

I dont even need to know the context surrounding this screenshot to know that you’re right.

You literally can’t teach a four year old to “fight back.” They’re too dumb to understand when self-defense is appropriate. Also, at that developmental stage, you’d be reinforcing some behaviors you’ll really want to avoid later.

Social media, as a whole, seems to prefer vengeance over justice (though they think they’re the same thing).

I had my kids in karate at age 4.

Maybe mine aren’t as unteachable as most, but they definitely could learn what is allowed and when in self-defense. It might on the karate school.

They sparred with tons of kids in class, and they each had to use their karate to some extent in defense of themselves or others.

The only times they would get angry and dangerous when sparring is when they were sparring each other. Anything that they would see as an accident if done by a non-relative was always seen as intentional if done by a sibling.

Only one of them ever threw the first punch. He was getting mocked by a group of kids from about 6th grade to about 11th grade. Always telling them to stop. One day in lunch at the high school he decided he had enough. He told the kid he was done putting up with it, and if he said one more thing, he was going to punch him in the face.

The kid said it, got punched, and then no one ever said anything again.

There was a school security guard that saw the whole thing. Either he decided the other kid deserved it, or he decided he didn’t want to have to deal with my son. Probably the former, but the latter isn’t outside the realm of possibility.

Same shit happened to me in sixth grade. Standing up for myself was certainly important between getting an adult involved.

I’m glad your kids were cool about it but it’s anecdotal. I have stories about kids using karate to be bullies. It doesn’t really address the idea that four year olds and their behaviors should be supervised and addressed with proper behavioral modification methods.

The karate stuff is fun for socialization and discipline not teaching toddlers to punch other toddlers to “reclaim their self esteem.”

I hope so, but there’s all sorts of men defending the advice of teaching little boys that they can restore their pride and self-esteem by enacting violence on others.

Yeah that’s the scary part. The excuse was “pride” for “self defense” and not safety which is telling.

What’s the solution instead of defending yourself? It seems they’ve exhausted almost all other possibilities already. You seem to think allowing the child to continue is acceptable. Which it clearly shouldn’t be.

Defending yourself isn’t violence, you are taking someone’s point and ruining it by moving the context to suit your agenda.

They have not exhausted all other possibilities already.

4-5 year olds aren’t known for their deep understanding of nuance. Teaching to meet violence with violence is not ok for this age range.

From reading the OP post they’ve done everything but getting the police involved, which clearly shouldn’t be a step for a 4 year old…… They’ve talked to the directors and teachers.

I ask again, what’s the solution?

You’d be surprised how well kids know the difference between right and wrong.

You’re not meeting violence with violence…. Using self defence is not violence, why are you continuing to go down this path? And why are you saying the self defence is violence? Who’s told you that? Because that’s bull shit. That’s reasoning people use to bully people since they “can’t” defend themselves. You’re enabling this shit if you continue to choose to think self defence is violence. It’s not.

Kids need to learn from an early age that bullying is not acceptable. Getting that lesson straight from the bullied kid is the most effective method.

In short, don’t start shit, won’t be shit.

Because that kind of advice that is upvoted and supported outrages me. It should outrage you. Teaching boys to be violent against girls in order to restore their pride and self-esteem is the very definition of sexism and it harms boys and girls.

Teaching children to enact violence on others to make themselves feel good is horrible. It should be called out.

I have been capturing wild children and feeding them rare candies, but they are just getting fat and sick. What level do they evolve at!? Or maybe they don’t evolve with level? Do they need an evolution stone? Or do I need to trade them with someone else for another child?

Yes, this body is animal. It must eat to see tomorrow, hydrate, and reproduce.

If we had the Gom Jabbar test of the Bene Geserit, how many would fail? But they only do that to Bene Geserit acolytes or students. Yes, Rabban and Feyd-Rautha Harkonnen probably never were tested.

Imagine a Pokemon whose master fucks with it by wrongly understanding it. Like having a pet that you get to interpret however you please and if it acts out you put it back in its ball until it decides to behave.
