Because that kind of advice that is upvoted and supported outrages me. It should outrage you. Teaching boys to be violent against girls in order to restore their pride and self-esteem is the very definition of sexism and it harms boys and girls.

Teaching children to enact violence on others to make themselves feel good is horrible. It should be called out.

4 year olds should be taught to not hit others. And especially to not hit others because it’ll restore their pride and self esteem. It’s very simple.

Unfortunately if someone is hitting you, or mentally bullying you violence is the only thing they are going to understand.

            They’re four years old.

Exactly. They understand getting smacked by the kid they are bullying makes the bullying less fun than it used to be. Surely you can understand what a four year old can?

And the other child learns that violence gets them what they want.

That you think this is a good lesson for children is bewildering.

Kids know the difference between right and wrong, and self defence is not violence.

They literally play games that involve cops and robbers, super heroes and villains, and you want to say they wouldn’t understand the difference between violence and self defence? They already understand quite well that playing isn’t violence. Why do you think self defence is this impossible step?

You’re teaching them to stand up for themselves, not to go out and be bullies, why are you assuming and loudly claiming that’s the only outcome?

It’s directly related. The meme is talking about encouraging toddlers to fight and that’s exactly what that comment was doing.

Pretty sure people have tried to tell you the difference between self-defence and violence. I don’t know what else to say here. Have fun being angry at nothing.
