IMO, it’s not super important to put everything back exactly the way it was.
Rebuild the east wing with something new, but more in line with the original dimensions and purpose, while still fitting the aesthetic of the building, at least on the outside. Ideally, it could be a symbol of ‘looking forward to a better future’ rather than ‘put it back the way it was before’. Like … at least put some solar panels on the roof, lol.
Carter put solar panels on the Whitehouse in 1979. Ronald Reagan tore them down when he got in. Oil companies have been hurting us for a long time.
Beat me to it
Asking seriously not sarcastically. What did you have in mind?
Not sure. Thankfully, I’m not the one in charge of deciding it.
Depends.
If the next president is a Republican they can dump as much money into whatever the fuck they want and conservatives will fall in line and support it. No matter how wasteful it is. No matter how long it takes.
If the next president is Democrat, they will be held to higher standards, and spending a bunch of tax payer dollars to tear down something that was just built would probably be viewed as unnecessarily wasteful so they probably won’t do it. They might repurpose it for actual office work intead of using it as a ballroom for people with small dicks though.
In the grand scheme of things, not that much. It’s just a building really, just with extra security. I’m not opposed to a conference room but it had to be done as the people’s house through Congress. But I think the whole notion is poisoned for a good while.
But I think the whole notion is poisoned for a good while.
Yeah, nobody’s going to want to throw good money after bad to tear it down again. Maybe at some point after Trump dies and therefore can’t gloat, it’ll actually get used for state dinners and such. In the meantime, I personally think you’ll see the space partitioned into cube farms and temporary offices, and in particular you’ll see the First Lady (or Gentleman) and staff plopped back down over there.
My thoughts as well! It doesn’t have to be a monster ballroom. We can have a proper ballroom and much, much more in that space. I say finish at least the shell, get that weatherproof, work out the rest later.
We’re gonna see a fight with Congress trying to not quite stop the ballroom construction but trying to get it through the proper channels, and Trump just telling the contractors what to do. Who knows.
If I’m the Democrats, I try to figure out a way to get something of value to the American people in exchange for letting him fuck off to play with his toys for the next two years. Whatever it is would be cheaply bought, especially if it distracts him from doing anything of actual importance, which by this point we know will be stupid and bad.
Set him up an office and let him pretend work like they did for his dad’s dementia.
Stop work on the ballroom, name it the Donald J Freedom Trump Ballroom and just let it rot.
Trump Epstein Memorial Museum. Have all the Epstein files on display in there in perpetuity
I’m betting you could get more than enough qualified volunteers to do it super fast
At a minimum there’s definitely people out there who would probably pay to raze it all to the ground.
They are definitely getting ripped off by shady contractors now, the cost to undo shoddy work can’t be as much as they are overcharging currently.
I suggest leaving it. Call it “Tramponium Room of Beautiful deals” and use as a museum of covfefe-tier things.
I mean tearing it down just sounds a waste of taxpayer money. Although admittedly considering the shoddy job they’re almost certainly doing we might have to tear it down for safety purposes.
republicans and ml “Democrats more concerned with destroying the ballroom and replacing the rose garden than with (some made up culture war bullshit) / (gEnOsiDe!11!) !!”
Who gives a fuck
What about the Oracle data center being constructed under the ballroom? Maybe fill it with cement?
Why waste good cement? Fill it with billionaires and then top it off with lava.
Do we need to factor in grifting fees like the cost of the ballroom?
